The Country Club of Farmington, 1892-1995
Published in Hardcover by Country Club of Farmington (April, 1996)
Author: James Arthur Frost
Average review score:

Frost's Fulfillment
This was clearly a labor of love for Dr. Frost. He winds his way through the entire history of the Country Club of Farmington and dots his tale with anecdote and data. It is an excellent work to learn about the sociology and growth of the game of golf and the country club scene as we enter the era of Tiger. This would be an interesting study for a sociology or history or civics class or just an enjoyable read for devotees of golf.

A Must Read For Anyone Who Took Part In This Tournament
I visited Farmington, NM and Ricketts Field, as a sponsor of a team, in l979, l981 and l982. It is a great tournament and the families with whom the young fellows stayed were great. Infact the whole town was gracious. Any player or parent would be happy to have this book as a keepsake. It is very interesting and it lists every player that ever played in the tournament. I was told about this book and ordered it right away and I'm not dissapointed. I have ordered another and probably by the time I finish telling everyone back here in the Flint, Michigan area, they will want one too!

The "Bible" of Farmington CT history
This book is the most comprehensive and scholarly book available on the history of Farmington, CT. It contains a wealth of information about the families that settled the Farmington valley, including Bird, Stanley, Porter, Steele, North, Gridley, Scott, Cole, Cowles, Woodford, Hawley, and many others. It is massively footnoted, and must be considered a starting point and resource book for any serious genealogist studying the 17th century settlement of the Farmington Valley in Connecticut. Most highly recommended.

Great History of Farmington
If you're going anywhere near Farmington, you'll want to get this book. Knowing about its history will make your visit more meaningful. Ms. Pawlak is a good writer, making the past come alive, whether she's telling legends of the Potawatomi Indians who settled the area in the 1400's, or stories of the WWII veterans whose return brought enormous growth and a suburban lifestyle to the area.
